Taking Charge of Your FertilityTaking Charge of Your Fertility, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Definitive Guide to Natural Birth Control, Pregnancy Achievement, and Reproductive Health
Average Reader Rating:
Editorial Review from Amazon.com:
This comprehensive book explains in lucid, assured terms how to practice the fertility awareness method (FAM), a natural, scientifically proven but little-known form of birth control (which is not to be confused with the woefully ineffective "rhythm" method). Author Toni Weschler has been teaching fertility awareness for almost 20 years, and it's only just now gaining in popularity. As the book explains, by using simple fertility signs including peaks in morning body temperature and changes in cervical position and cervical mucus, it's possible to determine when ovulation is taking place. Fertility awareness is therefore useful for not only couples who are trying to conceive, but for those who are aiming to avoid pregnancy without the use of chemical contraceptives. It will be of special interest to those women who have suffered from infertility; many FAM practitioners have told the author that by filling in the detailed charts in the book, they've realized that they were chronically miscarrying, even when their doctors told them they weren't conceiving at all. As the book explains, by charting body temperature, it's simple to tell when pregnancy has occurred--and when there's danger of miscarriage. Taking Charge of Your Fertility also explains how to choose the sex of your baby by timing intercourse according to certain fertility signs. It also features thorough, easy-to-understand explanations of hormones, the menstrual cycle, and menopause, along with fertility tests and treatments and their long- and short-term side effects, plus a topnotch resource section. Recommended for any woman who wants to better understand her body. --Erica Jorgensen --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?Is Your Body Baby-Friendly?: Unexplained Infertility, Miscarriage & IVF Failure - Explained and Treated
Average Reader Rating:
Book Description from Amazon.com:

The latest tests and treatments to help women conceive and carry to term are outlined in this book. The reasons for their so-called "unexplained" IVF failure and pregnancy loss are also comprehensively explained for the first time ever. Pioneering of this new field of medicine is Dr. Beer, who has helped thousands of couples achieve pregnancy and achieved success rates of more than 85% within three natural cycles or IVF attempts. The average age of these patients is over 35.

Having worked with more than 7,000 couples, Dr. Beer has identified five types of immune system response that cause reproductive failure: Category 1 is the least severe and Category 5 is most severe. Many infertile couples find that immunotherapy alone can enable them to become parents, without the requirement for IVF. The same is also true for recurrent miscarriage patients.

This thoroughly researched and referenced text includes contributions from world-leading professionals, including Dr. Carolyn Coulam, Dr. William Matzner and Dr. Geoffrey Sher. The acclaimed holistic practitioner Zita West has also contributed a special chapter on natural therapies and diet specifically for those with immune-based fertility problems and recurrent miscarriage and Dr. Christo Zouves, author of "Expecting Miracles," has provided the Foreword.

As an established and reputable field of reproductive medicine, many centers in the US and the rest of the world now specialize in immunotherapy and a selection of these is listed in the resources section.

Your Fertility SignalsYour Fertility Signals: Using Them to Achieve or Avoid Pregnancy Naturally
Average Reader Rating:
Reader Review from Amazon.com:

Concise, complete, with some extras on the side, February 29, 2004, By scientific mom (Omaha, NE)
This book is a very simple, concise, easy-to-read explaination of Natural Family Planning. It includes the "how-to" of using both temperature and mucus symptoms to avoid or achieve pregnancy, as well as the cervical position information. I love that it also explains the hormones going on at each phase of the female cycle to help the reader understand WHY these symptoms are happening! I use it as a quick reference instead of dragging out my big Art of Natural Family Planning book from the Couple to Couple League. It also includes brief information about charting your signals during breastfeeding, and information about some common infertility problems. I really like the added information about "Regulating Cycles With Light" and "Choosing Your Baby's Sex". I still think everyone should have the Art of NFP in their library, but this is a great reference for every-day use!

Fertile vs. InfertileFertile Vs. Infertile: How Infections Affect Your Fertility And Your Baby's Health
Average Reader Rating:
Book Description from Amazon.com:

Dr. Attila Toth's thirty years as a practicing infertility specialist and pathologist have convinced him that the only explanation for the alarming infertility rate, so far out of proportion with natural law, is the increasing presence of contaminating bacteria in the genital tracts of both sexes. In Fertility vs. Infertility, he documents how and why this process has escalated so dramatically over the past few decades of increased sexual activity.
